Sedation in Jupiter

Dental Sedation Medications and Options to Consider for Your Treatment

We understand that many people have a fear of the dentist or having dental work completed. Riverbend Family Dentistry offers a couple of sedation options to make your visit as comfortable as possible.

1. Nitrous oxide sedation. We offer nitrous sedation for both cleaning appointments and dental treatment appointments. It is one of the safest sedation options, and it has been used to relieve dental anxiety since the late 1800s. It helps to decrease anxiety, make longer appointments feel significantly shorter, and even decreases gag reflexes.  Because it quickly leaves your system, it is one of the only sedatives in which you may drive after your appointment.

2. Oral sedation. This is a great option for more extensive treatment or for patients who suffer from significant dental anxiety. It may also be indicated for patients with an unusually active gag reflex. It offers the comfort of complete relaxation and most of all not remember the visit. Patients who choose this option must have a driver to and from their appointment.

Benefits of Dentistry Sedation include:

  • Relieves anxiety that may be present during dental procedures
  • Personalized sedation levels fit for your needs
  • Different sedation options available

Depending on the sedation option you choose, you may feel the effects for several hours. With nitrous sedation, you stop feeling the effects within minutes after being hooked up to the mask.
