What Can I Expect From an Initial Dental visit at Riverbend Family Dentistry?

Many people have anxiety about going to the dentist. So, it can be helpful for them to know what to expect when it comes to going to the dentist. At Riverbend Family Dentistry, when we first see new patients, we conduct an initial dental checkup to provide new patients with an overview of their oral health so that they understand what they may need as far as future cleanings and treatments.

Knowing what to expect from a dental checkup can put you at ease for your upcoming dental appointment here at Riverbend Family Dentistry. And, give you the confidence to get the dental help you need from a practice that puts its patients’ comfort and dental health first.

There are a few ways of initial meeting your dental team here at Riverbend Family Dentistry.

  • New patient experience includes X-rays, Gum disease charting, a cleaning, and an exam by the dentist.
  • Limited or Problem-focused exam.
  • Cosmetic/orthodontic/ or Implant free consult.

New Patient Experience

This is what we term our initial full comprehensive visit. You will first be seen by our hygienist who will discuss your preferences and any issues/concerns you may be having. She will then take records which include necessary radiographs (X-Rays), tooth gum charting (Periodontal probing), complete cleaning, and a full comprehensive exam by a dentist.

Limited or Problem-Focused Exam

This is a narrower scope of exam that focuses directly on a problem a patient may be having. It includes any number of issues like pain, discomfort, dental anxiety, cosmetic concerns, lost or broken crowns/bridges/veneers…etc.

Cosmetic, Orthodontic, or Implant free consult.

Here at Riverbend Family Dentistry, we are equipped with a highly trained team that does an excellent job at delivering high-quality and high-esthetic dentistry. We offer free evaluations for Cosmetics, Orthodontics (including metal braces and Invisalign), and Dental implants. During these free consults, we will take basic records to allow us to discuss the needed treatment. Usually, this involves HD photography to highlight the patient’s concerns and desired outcomes. With the help of technology, we can usually offer mockups of expected results and help recommend the appropriate treatment to achieve our patients’ goals.
