Our Cosmetic and Family Dentistry Technologies

Advancements in dental technology mean more comfortable, more efficient, and more effective care for you. We’ve taken the time to explore modern technology, and we’ve incorporated quite a bit of it into our practice, especially those high-tech solutions that really improve your experience at the dentist.

We’d like to tell you more about some of the technologies we use here at Riverbend Family Dentistry Jupiter, so you can see the difference it makes in the care you receive.

  • Smart TVs

We have smart TV’s in every operatory. We want you to be as comfortable as possible while you are here! That means you get to surf Netflix and put on whatever you’d like to watch! We also use the TVs to display your x-rays, 3D scans, or photographs from your chart. This way you get to see what we’re seeing during your conversation with the doctor.

  • Digital Records

All of our notes, medical history forms, communication with specialists, and insurance companies is stored in your electronic chart. This is a major improvement over the paper charts of the past. There is no losing paperwork, illegible hand writing, or sifting through a stack of papers to review a note. The info is stamped in time and stored in a safe cloud setting and backed up on hard drives. We maintain a relationship with a computer company that consistently makes sure we are protecting your information with the best security possible.

  • Itero Digital Impression Scanner

The iTero Element Scanner is a state-of-the-art digital impression scanner that eliminates the need for messy impression materials. With our iTero Element Scanner, we can digitally capture a detailed 3D model of your teeth and gums that you may immediately view onscreen with your dentist. Not only is this process far more comfortable, but it’s faster and can offer a superior clinical endpoint. This fast, accurate impression allows for a precise fit of crowns, bridges, implants, and Invisalign clear aligners and retainers. No Goop. No Gag. No Worries!

  • Dental Magnification Loupes

Dental loupes allow our team of dental professionals to provide the highest possible care. Dental loupes magnify four times what can be seen with the naked eye. This magnifications helps us with diagnosing oral conditions as well as enhance surgical precision when completing treatment.

  • Intraoral Camera

Intra-oral cameras are in every room at Riverbend Family Dentistry. At your first visit,  intra-oral photos will be taken of your teeth and shown to you. These are not x-rays. These are actual digital photos of your teeth taken with a tiny camera that fit over teeth in the mouth so we can give you a tour of you tooth/teeth/gums. These photos are used for educational purposes when discussing any needed treatment. Also, if you have a question about a tooth and want a better view of it, we are happy to take a picture of it and show it to you.

  • Digital X-rays

Digital x-rays are one of the most significant advances in modern dentistry. The capability of our new sensors to take high quality images at a fraction of the already low radiation doses has some wonderful benefits for our patients. In fact the radiation dose that our new imaging software uses is so low that our staff can take them chair-side with you. No more sitting there for an uncomfortably long time while your hygienist dives for cover leaving you feeling like you’re about to start glowing.

Digital x-rays allow us to see deep into the teeth, gums, bone, and soft tissue. This enables us to properly diagnose things such as abscesses, cavities, unerupted teeth, fractures, pathology, compromised existing dental work, and gum disease.

  • Digital Panoramic

With the same benefits of digital X-rays, our state of the art digital panoramic machine allows us to minimize exposure to radiation. The digital panoramic(PAN) allows us to get a larger view of a patients entire mid and lower face including the jaw joints. Pans are often used to evaluate wisdom teeth, temporomandibular joints, eruption of children’s teeth, teeth positioning for orthodontics, jaw fractures, and can even be used in some cases to replace the many X-rays within your mouth in patients who have limited opening or trouble with gagging.

  • 3D Conebeam Tomography

In some cases, we need to evaluate using more than 2 dimensional images. 3D CT allows us to see bone and teeth in 3 dimensions and gives us a heads up prior to initiating treatment. A great example is a complicated root canal procedure where we are unsure the number and location of many of the tooth’s nerves. New high definition 3D scans can eliminate any guesswork and allow us to plan the entire procedure before you even show up for the treatment.

This technology also helps immensely in bone grafting, implant placement, sinus elevation, root canal therapy, and many more advanced procedures.

  • DentalVibe

Say goodbye to needle pain! DentalVibe is a cordless handheld device that is used to make injections more comfortable. We always use topical and distraction techniques to perform minimally painful injections. DentalVibe is an additional tool we have that sends a specific type of vibration through the gum tissue, which almost cancels out the feeling of the injection. This is great if you are nervous about being given anesthetic.

  • Laser Dentistry

With the help of our BioLase we are able to significantly decrease patient discomfort. When compared to traditional surgical methods, patients can experience faster healing times, less post-operative pain, enhanced esthetic results, and may in some cases avoid the need for anesthetic. Those are just a few of the many benefits of laser dentistry.

Our lasers are capable of completing the following procedures:

    • Excess gum removal (gingivectomy)
    • Treatment of periodontal pockets
    • Frenectomies (releasing a tied tongue or attached lip)
    • Fibroma removal
    • Aphthous ulcer treatment (intra-oral cold sores)
    • Stopping bleeding
    • Exposing unerupted teeth
    • Implant recovery
    • Crown Lengthening
    • Aestheic gum sculpting
